Who Turned the Heat On? – Warming up in Sevilla 2024

March 15, 2024

Today was a repositioning day from Barcelona to Sevilla. Unfortunately, that involved an early flight and an even earlier wakeup. But we made it to lovely Sevilla and our even lovelier Airbnb, hosted by Theresa. She guided us into the tightest parking place on the planet.

We had a nice, slow start to the day, partly because Mom is still struggling with a cough and back pain. We set off walking toward the two main sights in Sevilla: the massive cathedral and the Royal Alcazar. The park along the old city walls hosted a pop-up flamenco show. We were relieved not to have to keep that dance show on our list, mostly because they start at 9 or 10 p.m. The church was mobbed with tourists and everyone in line seemed to already have a ticket. My bad – we didn’t have a ticket. We slipped into a side part of the cathedral later for a little view, and we figured out that after we had been outside and close to these sights we could look at Youtube for a quick tour.

We aimed instead toward the delicious shopping area and enjoyed our morning. We ate lunch at El Corte Ingles. We had quiche and dessert, including my favorite Spanish dessert of flan torte, which is a flan cooked in a pie crust.

We went back home, hung our laundry on the third floor, and took a rest. Then we had to hustle back to the Alcazar to meet our tour of the Royal Bedrooms. We were running late and they only let two of us go through since we missed our tour time. So Jen and Mom took the tour while I did some work.

We returned to our Airbnb via the famous Bario Santa Cruz with its small streets and cute shops.

Later Jen and I went out for homemade pasta around the corner from our place.

Tomorrow is a driving tour to Cordoba.
